Rugbycomp is an rugby competition based on real games. You get to pick the winners and the scores for the covered competitions. The competition is open to all-comers, but please only sign up once. If I find anyone using multiple accounts for the competition, these people will be ineligible for the prizes.
The site was initially set up by pdeb to aid his addiction to competitions, but without causing him to transfer huge amounts of money into the TAB's bank account. Over the last 2 years the site has been further enhanced with help from other rugby fans (and rugbycomp-addicts).
Rugbycomp has a close working with Rugbyheads , which has articles and an entertaining message board for all your rugby rantings.
Anyone can enter rugbycomp, although only 1 entry per person is allowed to be eligible for any rugbycomp prizes. This is just to make it fair on all people - so don't complain. You just need to create yourself a logon. The competitions costs nothing to enter.
The cutoff time for each game is the actual start time of the game and is determined by the time on my server - so be careful when leaving your picks too late. All times given on Rugbycomp.com are in NZ time. If there is an error in the time of a game, please email pdeb and let him know. Picking times are tracked and all errors will be later rectified by rolling picks back if they are made with dubious honour.
Rugbycomp.com is a private affair and is not affiliated with any companies except where sponsorship has been obtained from other parties. However, Rugbycomp.com would like to thank Orion Systems Ltd for hosting the site, and for becoming the first sponsors of a competition.
Because the site is not run by a company, it is not being run for profit. All sponsorship for rugbycomp.com is distributed as prizes for the site's members.
Teams are a way for you and your mates to join forces and enter a group competition against other groups of members.
Teams can contain as many members as you wish, but only teams of two or more people will be entered into the teams competition. Other benefits of joining a team include easy searching for your team members in the competition table, as your team members will be highlighted.
The owner (creator) of each team has the right to decide who becomes a member of that team. However, people cannot be evicted from teams for poor performance in the competition.
Teams are compared on the following basis:
The scores in each team are averaged on a weekly basis and the average is
used as the team score.
Competitiors can select the team to join by editing their profile.
A mates list is basically just a list of your mates entered into the competition. When viewing the rugby picks or competition table, your mates will be highlighted in yellow, while your team members are highlighted in silver. There is also a complete competition table available that only holds your mates and your team members.
Some people have been known to get a bit serious when it comes to rugbycomp picking (you know who you are!), and would leave picking up to the last minute so as not to give anything away to competitors. So, hidden picks are just a way for the user to hide their picks from everyone untilthe start of the game. Once the game has started (and no more picks can be made), then the hidden picks become visible to all people.
